Not more than twenty years ago having a good job and keeping it for life was the best way to go. Loyalty and hard work were very much appreciated and rewarded by almost all employers. The industrial era still needed employees. A lot of them.
Now, things changed. We are going in a different direction. Employers don’t want any more obedient employees to do what they are told to do. The competition became fierce and employers need innovative employees ready to take responsibilities and smart enough to take care of themselves. They want them to be proactive and bring value. It is about the time of shifting the employees’ mentality with entrepreneurs’ mindset. This idea scares many people. Their life values are dramatically shaken. They grew up knowing that learning and getting a good diploma, and then finding a good job for life is the best they can do to be appreciated and rewarded. And they invested all their time and energy in that direction. They learned to be disciplined, to comply with their bosses and to observe in detail the directions given in their job descriptions. And, suddenly, those meant to praise them turned their back and changed their expectations. More and more people are living this drama today. Unfortunately, only just a few of them are willing to change and are ready to learn how to do it. Many people are still waiting for times to change and bring back their job security. They expect someone will do something for them, maybe the government or their employer or the justice or maybe some other forces… They just cannot accept to change. It would be contrary to all they have learned before. Or they just don’t know how to change. They didn’t understand what to do. They prefer to wait and hope for better times to come. They invested in a lifestyle that now is obsolete. And now they have only two options: 1. To stand still and wait, continuing to struggle and complain about everything 2. To turn this situation in their favor and take the challenge to create a new life for themselves and for their families.
